Our City is Facing Challenges

Colbert King didn’t sugar coat it in his column last weekend. The city’s economic situation is grim. And the problems due to the loss of city revenues? Daunting.

The District is at a crossroads. The question for our city, and in the race for the District Council, is: how will we bring our city back even stronger than before?

Re-opening our economy while continuing to provide essential government services for DC residents will require thoughtful leadership, innovative thinking, and effective problem-solving skills. I’m running for the DC Council At-Large to be that leader.

I want to take the lead on getting D.C. residents working again as we reopen our economy safely, and getting the DC government to work for us through a more efficient and customer-centered approach to city services.

On the campaign trail, it’s a strange and challenging time. No meet-and-greets, no forums, no knocking on doors to meet voters. But, I’m going to keep holding virtual meet-and-greets and I’ll keep asking for your solutions, your input on the budget, and your thoughts on re-starting our city.

I also need your help to get our message out across the District. If you’ve already given but have not reached the maximum threshold of $100, please consider making an extra contribution of $10 or $20, if you can do so without going over the limit. If you haven’t given yet, I hope that you will consider making a small contribution to our campaign. Remember, every dollar from a DC resident is matched 5:1 by the Fair Elections Program, and will help our campaign finish with a strong win on November 3.
