Robert’s only mistake was being in the wrong place: his own neighborhood. Chander sits down with Robert, a friend and neighbor, to discuss how DC can be safe for everyone.

Chander has been awarded the 2020 Gun Sense Candidate distinction from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America for advocating for gun violence prevention and making a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.

Chander supports Moms Demand Action’s Vision Zero comprehensive plan that includes:

• Establishing a cross-agency Gun Violence Prevention Czar to coordinate all gun violence prevention, intervention, enforcement, and response

• Expanding successful violence interruption and other programs in the Office of Neighborhood Safety & Engagement and Cure the Streets

• Empowering DC agencies to address hotspots quickly

• Expanding and improving trauma services, including better and faster medical care for gunshot victims in Wards 7 and 8 and counseling services for people living with the trauma of daily gun violence.
